The Grass is Greener EP#9 – Conversation about IKIGAI with Tim Henry

I was honored to be invited to Tim Henry’s podcast and participate in his Episode 9.

“The people of Japan believe that everyone has an ‘ikigai’ – a reason to jump out of bed each morning. This week we speak to Hector Garcia the co-author of the international best selling book – ‘Ikigai – The Japanese Secret to a Long and Happy Life’. Hector’s chat with us was fantastic, inspiring you to leave urgency behind, find your purpose, nurture your friendships and throw yourself into your passions!

Hector Garcia is a writer and is a citizen of Japan, where he has lived for 16 years, and also Spain, where he was born. He is the author of several books about Japanese culture.

Hector went in search of his own life’s purpose and in doing so, started looking at this mysterious word, ‘ikigai’.

What eventuated was that Hector and his co-author Francesc Miralles wrote a book on the topic, called ‘Ikigai – the Japanese Secret to a Long and Happy Life’. Such was the beauty in the way it was written, explained and presented that it became an international best seller.

Ikigai is the place where our passion (what we love), mission (what we hope to contribute), vocation (the gifts we have to offer the world) and profession (how our passions and talents can become a livelihood) converge, giving us a personal sense of meaning. The book helps you bring together all of these elements so that you can enjoy a balanced life.
An episode not to be missed.”
